Rudy Gobert
Rudy Gobert is a professional basketball player. At 32, he is the first-team center and the star player of Minnesota Timberwolves in NBA and of the French National Team.
Rudy begins basketball at 11 at the JSC St Quentin club. He makes steady progress but his size is still in the average. His outstanding potential only catches the eye of the Cholet Basket Club. He wins several titles in the youth categories that grant him access to the Junior French National Team.
In 2011, Rudy joins the Elite pro section of his club. He ends up best shot blocker for his 2nd season only. The same year he remains the youngest player to be selected at the local All-Star Game. In 2013, Rudy was selected at 27th rank during the NBA Draft. Thanks to his performances, Rudy gets selected for the 2015 Rising Stars Challenge and for the 2017 All-NBA Second Team. Since then, Rudy has accumulated numerous individual and team honors. A four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2018, 2019, 2021, 2024), he became the third player to tie this record. In February 2022, he was selected for his third consecutive NBA All-Star Game. After nine seasons with the Utah Jazz, Rudy joined the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2022.
Rudy played a key role in the French National Team success overs the past decade. He won two bronze medals at the World Championships in 2014 and 2019, and claimed two Olympics silver medals at Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024.
